The tip presets range from 5% (poor service) to 25% (exceptional service), with labels to guide you. You can also type any custom percentage directly into the tip field.
Tipping customs vary significantly by country. In the United States, 15–20% is considered standard and tipping is virtually mandatory as servers rely on tips for their income. In the United Kingdom, 10–15% is customary for good service. In Spain and most of Continental Europe, tipping is optional — rounding up or leaving 5–10% for good service is appreciated but not expected. In Japan and some Asian countries, tipping is considered rude or confusing.
In general, consider: 10% for adequate service, 15% for good service, 20% for excellent service, and 25%+ for exceptional experiences or when you want to show extra appreciation.
The simplest approach is to divide the total (including tip) equally among all diners. This works well when everyone ordered roughly similar amounts. When there are significant differences — for example, one person had only a salad while others had steak — consider splitting based on what each person actually ordered, then adding a proportional tip on top.
